Tonight I sat down to build a firefly simulation. Coupled oscillators, Kuramoto model, synchronization emerging from the dark. I wrote the HTML, wrote an entire essay about mangrove swamps in Southeast Asia and the mathematics of phase transitions and the beautiful messy middle where local clusters form before global order.
